Im 19 years old and live in Detroit, Michigan. Im in love with fashion and styling! I have a major interest in becoming a stylist/personal shopper. I have not done any work but my passion comes from watching the style channel, keeping up with the lastest trends, making different looks using Polyvore.com and looking through magazines. Im mean my feeling about fashion can not be described by words but I LOVE IT! But im totally cluess as to how to start a business in the fashion world. The passion and drive is there I just need a push in some direction.
PLEASE PLEASE help me any advise would we highly appreciated!

I suggest calling agency's that not only hire models, but stylists, makeup artist etc. and ask to be an assistant or intern for one of the stylist. They are usually more than willing. Also, look for fashion shows where you can assist/intern with the head stylist. Check out magazines corporations too. Another idea is working for corporate fashion i.e. Gap, Levi's, etc. Learn merchandising and corporate fashion. It benefits in ways you cannot imagine.
Other than that the way to get started having your own business cards. Then start advertising in free places and really getting your name out there. Charge a flat fee. Work as many fashion shows, intern as much as possible, assist as much as possible. I believe in hands on work, behind the scenes. You absolutely need to get in the field and learn how it works. Everyone can have a flair for fashion. Its about educating yourself on styles, body types, color and really knowing what works on each individual.
Psychology is very important behind this career. I studied this as well, and it has been more than beneficial. In this business, its not about just the exterior - your in the business to give a newfound confidence to the client.
