I want to straighten my medium length hair. I have curlt and some what frizzy hair. is it better to use a relaxer or a straightener, for a more permanant look.

When choosing between a relaxer and a "straightener", you have to take into account what type of hair texture you have. Traditional relaxers are best for African-American hair and cannot be used on highlighted hair. This type of service straightens the hair, but can also leave the hair a bit limp...the hair usually needs daily styling to look soft and bouncy.
Thermal reconditioners (also known as Japanese straighteners) can remove the curl/wave/frizz, and can be done on colored/highlighted hair (depending on the brand of straightener used). This type of service can be done on almost any type of hair and usually only needs to be re-touched every 7-10 months. A traditional relaxer must be touched up much more frequently. Whichever route you decide to go, make sure that you find a chemical technician you trust with experience...these chemicals are very strong and can cause a lot of breakage if the process is done incorrectly. Good luck!
